Business, Education, Social Sciences and Technology Division


The Business, Education, Social Sciences and Technology Division administers a variety of transfer and career/technical programs. Within this unit, the departments of accounting, business, computer information systems, criminal justice, HVAC, culinary arts, education, economics, exercise science, history, sociology, psychology, political science and geography offer coursework for both specific degree needs and to satisfy general education requirements.

In the accounting and business areas, students can opt for either transfer coursework or consider completion of an associate of applied science degree or certificate. Students choosing business or accounting will find a wide variety of credential options and career opportunities.

For students considering transfer options in any of the social sciences (i.e. sociology, psychology, history, political science, civilization, economics or geography), the various departments offer a wide variety of coursework for transfer. In addition, all of these academic areas schedule coursework to satisfy the College’s general education requirements.

In physical education, the College offers transfer programs of study. The College’s fitness center is open throughout each semester and provides a wide range of programming for students and the community.

In computer information systems, students develop the technical expertise necessary to begin a career in information technology. Degree and certificate options are available.

For future teachers, the education department offers degrees for both transfer and workforce preparation. All programs in teacher preparation are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students can start their preparation for a career in education with a wide variety of course and degree options.

Business, Management and Technology programming is offered within this division. This Associate of Applied Science degree offers students coursework and training to prepare for entry into the workforce.

Students in culinary arts prepare to work in the food service industry. The hands-on curriculum is designed to produce graduates ready to work in any restaurant or food service environment.

The heating, ventilation and air conditioning curriculum provides students classroom and laboratory experience with the latest equipment in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration.
