LPN Option leading to Nursing (RN), AAS


LPN to RN Bridge - Associate of Applied Science

This program of study is a sample plan for a full-time student; part-time study is also available prior to program admission.  All academic schedules are subject to change.

Additional Information
In order to achieve success in this program, a student can expect to spend a minimum of 20-30 hours per week, outside of class, studying and preparing for class and clinical experiences. Some examples include: practicing skills in the lab, preparing for clinical assignments, studying for exams, preparing for class, developing written assignments and presentations.

ALL Science courses MUST be no more than 5 years old with a grade of “C” or better.

ALL General education courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

The nursing program is a full-time course of study. THIS IS A SUGGESTED PLAN OF STUDY BASED ON COLLEGE READINESS/PLACEMENT SCORES. The complete nursing curriculum can be found in the ECC Registered Nursing application.

Prerequisites/General Education (36 hours)


East Central College requires the following general education courses for an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing. It is the responsibility of each applicant to COMPLETE these course requirements PRIOR to beginning the nursing program.

Prerequisite Notes:


  • One year High School Chemistry with a “C” or better in the last 5 years will substitute for College Chemistry pre-requisite for Human Anatomy & Physiology.
  • Two years High School Biology with a “C” or better in the last 5 years will substitute for General Biology pre-requisite for Human Anatomy & Physiology AND Microbiology for Allied Health
  • East Central College has restructed the course numbering system effective Fall 2017. The proposed plan reflects those changes.

Nursing Program


Summer Semester


No formal coursework.  Students will be required to complete an established remediation plan.
