Occupational Therapy Assistant, AAS

East Central College offers the OTA program through the Missouri Health Professions Consortium (MHPC) and is coordinated though State Fair Community College as a hybrid program.
The AAS in Occupational Therapy Assistant is a one-plus-one-degree program which prepares students to practice as certified occupational therapy assistants (COTA) after meeting certification and state licensure standards. Occupational therapy assistants work under the direction of occupational therapists to provide rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional or developmental impairments. Occupational therapy assistants work in a variety of settings including long-term care, acute and outpatient rehabilitation centers, school districts and home care.
Prerequisites/General Education: A selective admission process is utilized. Students must have a “C” or better in prerequisite coursework, have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 and complete required observation hours to apply to the program.
Extra-Curricular/Cocurricular Opportunities at ECC: ECC offers a variety of clubs and cocurricular activities for all students.
