MDA 213 - Medical Laboratory Procedures Hours: 4 This course is designed to introduce various procedures used in medical laboratory settings in compliance with OSHA standards and CLIA-waived testing. Students will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate the application of basic techniques and instruments used in all areas of medical specialties including phlebotomy, urology, hematology, chemistry, serology and quality control. Biohazards, specimen collection and patient educations will be included. Students will achieve 100% of the MAERB Core Competencies by demonstrating and implementing hands-on techniques. Students must maintain a B or higher to successfully pass this course.
Lecture/Laboratory: Two hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory per week. Prerequisite: MDA 113 Minimum grade B; MDA 101 and EMS 101 Minimum grade C;
