CH 2305 - Organic Chemistry I Lecture & Lab Hours: 5 A study of the basic principles of organic chemistry including acid-base theory, sterochemistry, reaction mechanism for electrophilic addition, and nucleophilic substitution, spectroscopy, nomenclature of organic compounds. The lab is a study of common techniques for the synthesis, purification and identification of organic compounds. Emphasis on the techniques associated with the crystallization, distillation, chromatography, and extraction.
Lecture/Laboratory: Three hours of lecture and minimum of four hours of laboratory per week. Prerequisite: CH 1405 , minimum grade C. Prerequisite/Corequisite: SC 1000
