Emergency Medical Technician - Certificate of Specialization

East Central College offers a Certificate of Specialization in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Students in the program receive instruction in the recognition, treatment, and transport of patients with medical emergencies and trauma. Courses combine classroom and laboratory activities with clinical experiences in acute care and pre-hospital settings. This provides the student with the opportunities to learn skills and techniques to e applied in the actual work setting.

This coursework leads to licensure as an Emergency Medical Techician-Basic in the state of Missouri.

Prerequisites/General Education: Students must have a “C” or better in prerequisites/corequisite coursework and a cumulative college GPA of 2.0.
