CIS 223 - Security+ & SSCP

This course prepares students for the CompTIA’s Security+ (SYO-401) and (ISC)2’s SSCP certification exams. CompTIA’s Security+ certification is an international, vendor-neutral certification that verifies the student can apply knowledge to applying security concepts, tools and procedures to react to security incidents. Security + Exam SYO-401 (2014 edition) covers general knowledge of security concepts, threats, and tools. (ISC)2’s SSCP certification (2012 edition) ensures students have the skills to safeguard against threats and the knowledge to apply security concepts, tools, and procedures. This certification is for IT professionals such as, Network Security Engineer, Systems/Network Administrator, or Security Analyst, with proven technical skills and practical security knowledge in hands-on operational IT roles.  The curriculum includes the challenges of protecting electronic information and the skills to manage security threats and harden security for computer systems. This course includes information on Access Control and Identity Management, Cryptography, Policies, Procedures, and Awareness, Physical Security, Perimeter Defenses, Network Defenses, Host Defenses, Application Defenses, Data Defenses, and Assessments and Audits. This course requires a minimum of 92 hours to complete online materials.

Prerequisite: CIS 151 CIS 152 , and CIS 193 ; minimum grade C; or instructor consent
