EN 2102 - Speed Reading

A course in reading improvement that stresses speed while heeding the importance of comprehension, interpretation, critical thinking, and vocabulary improvement. Students read with pacing devices, using a computer program that emphasizes tachistoscopic exercises, vocabulary practice, timed readings, and comprehension checks. Students should be able to double their reading speeds in one semester. Level will be determined by score on the Nelson- Denny Reading Test or another diagnostic reading test.

Prerequisite: Appropriate English placement score.
